Since 1899 the Stewart family has supplied value-added ingredients to the food industry. From our origins in fruit processing, we have progressed to today’s full array of fillings, toppings and functional ingredient systems.
1899 – Earl Whitley Stewart established the first of his Stewart-named food companies. This represents the Stewart family’s introduction to the baking and ingredient-supply manufacturing business.
1945 – E.W’s son, Keith F. Stewart, Sr. joined the company following his service in WWII. After his father’s untimely death, he established Keith Stewart Fruit Products with the aim of providing ingredients to wholesale and industrial bakeries rather than retail.
1956 – KSFP introduced a full line of fruit-based bakery fillings and toppings utilizing cross, linked modified starch, providing for superior sheer and bake-stability.
1967 – KSFP developed and copyrighted Iso Honey, a combination of honey and apple juice that delivered powerful honey flavor with significant cost savings over pure bakers honey. The product was successfully introduced to both bread baking and cookie, cracker and biscuit markets.
1973 – Keith F. Stewart, Jr. joins KSFP.
1976 – Manufacturing moves from Lake Street to Fulton Street where it remains to this day.
1987 – William J. Braun, eventual VP of Operations, joined the company.
1989 – Keith F. Stewart, Jr. took the helm, focusing on production, development and in-plant services for highest functional product development.
1992 – Began pioneering aW-controlled fillings for longer shelf-life danish, pastries and donuts in both fresh and freeze, thaw and serve applications.
1993 – First fully integrated HACCP program was completed.
1999 – The Stewart family celebrated 100 years in the Food Industry.
2004 – KSFP celebrated 50 years and Keith F. Stewart III joined the company, eventually transitioning into Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
2007 – Ross Stewart joined the company, eventually transitioning into Industrial Sales.
2010 – KSFP rebranded as Stewart Ingredient Systems, Inc. First BRC certification completed.
2019 – Started fruit formulations for craft breweries.
